Psycho-Educational Assessments are conducted to help determine why a student is having difficulty with learning school material (i.e, learning new information, remembering new things, difficulty following directions).
Generally, these evaluations include:
- the clinical interview or in-depth gathering of both the developmental and medical histories
- the administration, scoring, and interpretation of an intelligence/cognitive test
- academic achievement test
- social/emotional screening
These evaluations are typically done to help families or schools figure out if a student would qualify for accommodations in their classroom or for special education services.
